Viva

How  much of your life do you truly live?

A large portion of Americans will  spend one third of their lives asleep, one third working, and the rest  is filled with preoccupations inflicted by the social structure. How  many of your thoughts are truly your own? There is no enslavement more  absolute than unconscious enslavement.

Is it that we are simply a product of our environments and circumstances? Does the influence around and within us - present from the moment we are born - provide an inescapable element that will perpetually be warping our decisions?

Does free will exist? Are we capable of truly free thought, when we have inherited most of our ideas, our languages, and our cultures? What may appear to be a personal decision may simply be an aggregate opinion of our unconscious desires.

Do we really know who WE are, and not simply who we think we are?

I postulate that by existing we are engaging in a contract that concedes some - if not all - of our free-will, simply by the nature of existence we must make ourselves susceptible to influence by external stimuli and thought. The only way to achieve true free will is to exist independently of everything.

Our minds may adopt our underlying processes' opinions as our true and infallible opinion, but can you really trust your own mind? The biological construct that drives you to eat, to fight, to fuck? Can you believe in something that is designed to deceive you - for the sake of the perpetuation of the species?
